The model, made explicit
Many buyers assume a single supplier handles "everything" — including the certificate. In a compliant Matter supply chain that is rarely the case, and it should not be. Certification is a legal grant tied to a CSA membership and a specific product; manufacturing is a physical service. Mixing the two into one unnamed party creates exactly the ambiguity that slows a brand's launch and confuses auditors.
Our model keeps the three roles clean:
- You, the brand — own the Vendor ID (VID), apply for Product IDs (PIDs), hold the certificate, and sell under your own name.
- The ecosystem partner (Tuya / Espressif / Hoperf) — a CSA member holding a certified base product, which performs the CTP transfer to your derived product.
- MatterODM / Shenan Yangguang — the factory that tools, assembles, produces and delivers the physical product, and supports you through the certification paperwork.
Who certifies vs. who manufactures
| Role | Who | What they do | What you receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Certifier | Tuya, Espressif, Hoperf (and other CSA-member ecosystem partners) | Hold a certified base product; perform CTP transfer to your derived SKU | Your product certified under your VID/PID |
| Manufacturer | MatterODM — Shenzhen Shenan Yangguang Electronics Co., Ltd. | Tooling & molding, SMT, assembly, production, delivery | The physical, mass-produced product |
| Brand owner | You | Owns VID, applies for PID, holds the certificate, sells under your name | A certified, ownable, portable product line |
What CTP (Certification Transfer Program) actually is
CTP is the Connectivity Standards Alliance's mechanism for transferring an existing Matter certification from one member's certified product to a derived product owned by another member. In practice:
- The transferor (the ecosystem partner) must be a CSA Participant or Promoter member.
- The transferee (you, the brand) must be at least an Associate member.
- The result is your product carrying Matter certification under your own VID/PID, without repeating the full original test campaign.
Our manufacturing scope — the part we own end to end
What we deliver is the physical product, from tool to truck:
- Tooling & molding (开模) — we open the tooling for your product's enclosure and mechanical parts, so the form factor is yours.
- SMT / PCBA (贴片) — surface-mount assembly of the printed circuit board in our own line.
- Assembly (组装) — final assembly, wiring, and labeling to your specifications.
- Production (生产) — volume manufacturing in our 10,000 ㎡ facility with 500+ staff.
- Delivery (交付) — in-line test, packing, and shipment to your destination.
How we support your CTP and PID
We don't just hand you a finished board and wave goodbye. The support flow is:
- We tool and build the product to the mechanical and electrical spec agreed with you.
- We work with you to submit the newly tooled product to the ecosystem partner — for example through Tuya — for the CTP transfer onto your derived SKU.
- We assist you with VID/PID application and ongoing PID management, so the certification paperwork moves in parallel with manufacturing instead of after it.
The outcome: a product that is both manufactured and certifiable, plus hands-on help with the certification process — without us standing between you and your own certificate.
Why this split matters to a brand
- You own the certificate and the VID/PID. That is portable brand equity, not a licence dependent on our name.
- No single-party compliance lock-in. The certifier and the manufacturer are separate, named parties — cleaner for audits and for channel onboarding.
- One manufacturing partner that speaks certification. Because we run the CTP/PID support ourselves, engineering and compliance don't get lost in a hand-off between sub-suppliers.
