| Parameter | Current design |
|---|---|
| Matter transport | Thread (requires a Thread border router in the home network) |
| Commissioning | Bluetooth Low Energy, per the Matter specification |
| Matter device type | Contact Sensor |
| Power | CR2 or 2×AAA, selected per model — the two variants use different housings |
| Body finish | Ceramic-finish white body as the standard; alternative finishes per project |
| Faceplate | Modular, magnetically attached, user-replaceable — colour variants available |
| Magnet | Supplied as a matched pair with the body; gap tolerance is specified at design freeze |
| Mounting | Adhesive pad standard; screw mount option |
| Certification status | In development |
What this device does inside a Matter network, and the decisions that were taken before firmware implementation began.

|---|---|
| Device type | Contact Sensor |
| Core cluster | Boolean State — the cluster that reports the open/closed state to the ecosystem |
| Endpoints | Single functional endpoint, plus the root node. Battery reporting uses the power source cluster on the root node. |
| Transport certification | Thread. Where the radio module carries certified Thread component libraries, inheritance may remove separate Thread testing — checked before design freeze. |
| Border router dependency | A Thread device needs a Thread border router in the home. This is a product-documentation issue as much as a technical one, and we supply the wording for your packaging and manual. |
| Certification route | Assessed against the available Matter routes once the design freezes. |
A contact sensor is a commodity object. The differentiation is almost never in the radio — it is in whether the object is something the customer is happy to have stuck on their door frame for five years.
CR2 gives a smaller body with a longer service interval; 2×AAA gives a more common cell and a larger body. These are not interchangeable within one moulding, which is why they are treated as two variants on one platform rather than one product with two options.
For projects where size matters more than cell availability, the CR2 variant is usually the right starting point.

| MOQ | Sampling for design partners is available at low volume. Production MOQ is confirmed once the variant set is defined, since it depends on faceplate and housing combinations. |
| Available now | Samples for evaluation and design partner feedback. |
| Expected availability | Production availability follows certification completion. We give a dated production window in the quotation rather than a vague quarter. |
| Tooling | Standard housing tooling is in place; bespoke faceplate or enclosure tooling is quoted per project. |
| Certification ownership | Under your Vendor ID or transferred to you, agreed in writing before the project starts. |
| Customisable | Faceplate colours, body finish, magnet gap specification, packaging and branding, and market-specific battery choice. |

Design partners can sample now. Tell us your variant set and target market and we will confirm what is available and when.
