Matter device categories we build

This site covers one product family: hardware that carries the Matter logo out of the CSA certification process. Four categories are live in our programme today — one already in mass production, three in active development. Every one of them re-uses the same certified Matter foundation, which is why new variants reach sampling faster than a from-scratch design.

Looking for our alarm, camera or accessibility hardware instead? That portfolio sits with the parent company and is not what this site is for. Tell us what you need and we will route you correctly.

The 32-SKU Matter roadmap

We do not publish a launch date for every planned SKU — dates we cannot hold are worse than no dates. What we do publish is the shape of the roadmap, because it tells you whether we can grow with you.

Roadmap as of October 2026. Tooling is committed per project; nothing on this list is tooled speculatively.
StageSKU countWhat it means for you
In mass production1 (Matter smart plug)Certified, tooled, shipping. You can order against an existing certification.
In development, sampling3 (door sensor, PIR, gateway)Design is defined; samples available for evaluation. Certification follows design freeze.
Platform-qualified, not yet tooled~12Variants that reuse an existing certified foundation. Fast to start, because the Matter work is done.
Mapped, requires new silicon or clusters~16Longer path. We will tell you honestly when a category belongs here.

Total planned: 32 Matter SKUs. If your product is not on the list, that is not a refusal — it is a scoping conversation.

One Matter platform, many devices

The economic argument for a platform approach is simple: the expensive, slow, risky part of a Matter product is not the plastic — it is the firmware, the data model and the certification. We pay that cost once per platform and then re-use it.

What stays constant across the four categories, and what actually changes.
LayerRe-used or re-engineeredNotes
Matter stack & SDKRe-usedVersion-pinned, tracking the CSA release train; one upgrade path for the whole family.
Commissioning flowRe-usedQR payload, discriminator and passcode handling are shared, so onboarding behaves identically across SKUs.
Data model & cluster mappingRe-used per device typeCluster sets are per category and must be declared correctly — this is where most certification rejections happen.
Radio & transportPer categoryWi-Fi for mains-powered products, Thread for battery products. The choice is driven by power budget, not preference.
Enclosure, antenna, mechanicalRe-engineeredWhere your brand differentiation actually lives. Also where RF performance gets won or lost.
Certification evidencePartly inheritableDepends on whether the change qualifies for similarity-based routes. See certification support.
